Prof. Dr. Md Mamun Bin Ibne Reaz

Prof. Dr. Md Mamun Bin Ibne Reaz is the Vice-Chancellor of the Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Gazipur, Bangladesh, a subsidiary organ of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). He brings more than 25 years of experience in teaching, research, academic leadership and institution-building across Bangladesh and Malaysia. Before joining IUT, he served as Professor of Electronic Engineering at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), held long-standing academic appointments at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), and served as Dean of the School of Engineering, Technology & Sciences at Independent University, Bangladesh.

Prof. Reaz earned his PhD in Science and Engineering from Ibaraki University, Japan, specialising in VLSI Design, and completed his BSc and MSc in Applied Physics and Electronics at the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. His research interests include integrated circuit design, biomedical sensors, AI-enabled embedded systems, EMG signal processing, FPGA/SoC implementation, smart systems and digital health.

He has authored more than 400 refereed publications and several books, received over 20,000 Google Scholar citations with an h-index of 49, and managed more than 76 competitive research grants worth approximately USD 4 million, drawing support from the Qatar National Research Fund, ASEAN-India mechanisms, and national ministries in Malaysia and Bangladesh. He has been consistently listed among Stanford University’s world’s top 2% scientists every year since 2020 and has delivered over 20 keynote addresses at international conferences.

Beyond research, Prof. Reaz is a Senior Member of IEEE and a former Senior Associate of the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Italy. He has supervised more than 60 postgraduate theses and actively serves as an editor and reviewer for high-impact international journals.

As Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Reaz envisions transforming IUT into the “OIC’s Green Digital University” by 2035, with emphasis on future-ready education, research impact, innovation, student-centred development, transparent governance and green-digital transformation.
