Instructions on The Occasion of the 34th Convocation
The 34th convocation of the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) will be held on Monday, 23 May 2022 on its campus beginning at 3:00 PM and ending at 5:00 PM.
The convocation is a ceremony where all concerned are required to exercise a balance between solemnity and festivities. It is, therefore, essential to follow decorum, etiquette and punctuality in each phase of the event in order to follow the programme which has been carefully choreographed.
All attendees are requested to follow the announcement during the ceremony;
Before the Ceremony
- The invited guardians and other guests are required to take their seats(Seat Plan) in their designated area by 2:30 PM upon showing their invitation card at the entrance of the convocation hall;
- Each Graduate / Graduating student shall be allowed a maximum of one accompanying invited guest at the convocation hall;
- Awardees must come to the venue following the academic procession smartly attired in convocation regalia as supplied by the University Authority;
- Awardees must sit only at the seats earmarked for them in the convocation hall.
During the Ceremony: The Audience
- Guests are requested to stand up as the academic procession enters the hall and to take their designated seats after the members of the procession take their seats;
- At the time of departing the academic procession, the attendees are requested to stand up following the convention;
- Mobile phones are to be kept switched off or in silent mode;
- The audience will keep sitting in their seats and will not move out of their seats.
During the Ceremony: Awardees
- The awardees (PhD, OIC and IUT Gold medallists) shall move out of their seats only when their name is called for receiving the award;
- The awardees should alight the stage and walk to the dais from one end in a dignified and orderly fashion in a sequence of their names called to receive certificates/medals at the hands of the dignitaries and come back to the allocated seat from the other end of the dais in an orderly sequential fashion;
During the Ceremony: Prohibitions
- Representing awardees/ invited guests;
- Cross talks, photography, movements, or loitering inside the convocation hall ; At the time of departing the academic procession, the attendees are requested to stand up following the convention;
- Whistling, shouting, making noise, cheering and other forms of exclamations;
- Leaving the hall before the completion of the ceremony;
- Crowding in front of the dais and in the aisles for taking pictures or for other purposes.
- Outside food is not allowed inside the convocation hall;
PARKING
Vehicles will be allowed to be parked only in the designated areas.
GENERAL GUIDELINES UNDER COVID-19 PROTOCOL
- Wearing a mask during the whole ceremony is mandatory;
