He also put on record his gratefulness to H.E. Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary General of the OIC and Chancellor of IUT for his prerecorded speech and for all the efforts he has been making for the development of the university. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam recalled with great gratitude the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, under whose visionary leadership, Bangladesh joined the OIC in 1974. His realization of the necessity of the collective voice of the Ummah on issues of global importance proved to be prophetic. The VC added that the great leader appreciated long back the importance of unity and solidarity within and beyond the Ummah.

Convocation is a day of celebration and enjoyment. He added that convocation is the day for looking forward to a new life as well as a day for recognition. The VC told the graduates that they have started their career at IUT with lots of hopes and aspirations and the University has tried to provide the graduates with the best possible academic environment. The Vice Chancellor called upon the students to pay back the debts that they owe to their families, countries and the Ummah.
